NIEMIEC - George, A., a lifelong resident of Black Rock, died suddenly July 26, 2021, at age 67.

Cherished brother of Barbara (F. Joseph) Smolkovic, Thomas (Jill), Pamela (Ahmed) Selim, David (Colleen) and Robert Niemiec; loving uncle, unwavering role model for Jonathan, Stephen, Cheryl, Jamie and Wendy.

Mr. Niemiec was predeceased by his dear wife Celeste (nee Kubala) and his beloved parents Edward and Genevieve (nee Nadolny) Niemiec.

After his father’s passing, George worked tirelessly and began assuming and building the daily operations of the family’s lumber and supply business on Grant Street.

At the time of his untimely passing, George remained co-owner of Niemiec Builders Supply, Inc. He was held in high esteem. He was seen as a fair, honest and dedicated businessman by all area tradesmen and customers.

George was an active and faithful parishioner of Assumption Church. His family also spoke of George’s unwavering passion and love for nature. His life view was to “honor and preserve the beauty of nature in its’ undisturbed natural habitat”.

George thoroughly enjoyed the countless hours he spent building a cabin on the scenic acreage he owned near Wellsville. He was a HO model train enthusiast and collector. He enjoyed many family vacations in Florida and North Carolina. A kind and generous man, he loved his family and they loved him. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visitations will be held at the KOLANO FUNERAL HOME, 396 Amherst Street (near Grant) Sunday 3-7PM. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Church, 435 Amherst St., on Monday at 9:30 AM. Please assemble at Church.

Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Assumption Church Preservation Fund or the Erie County SPCA.
