ANNOUNCEMENTS

 Good morning everyone,

Summer is coming to an end which means a couple things: school is starting back up, it’s time for football and more importantly for us, we’re a little over three weeks from our 20 year reunion. I’ve got some important announcements regarding the event that I need to share with you all.

For those of you who’ve been keeping track, we have a three event weekend planned: Friday night cocktail hour, Saturday night dinner and reception at the Washington Athletic Club and a Sunday picnic at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. The price per person for the weekend was set between $75-85 depending on when you paid. By comparison, West Seattle High School’s 20 year reunion is $91 per person and our own 10 year reunion was about $90 per person as well.

Based on feedback from a lot of folks, a couple things were evident: more people were interested in Friday night than Saturday; people felt like Saturday would be a stuffy suit and tie affair; and the cost was a little steep.

After hearing all the feedback, the reunion committee put our thinking caps back on and decided to make a few changes. Here is the rundown of events over the weekend.

September 23rd (Friday night) starting at 7:30 PM we have space reserved at Sport Restaurant and Bar at Fisher Plaza right across from the Space Needle (http://www.sportrestaurant.com/). This location will serve as our no-host cocktail hour meeting place. Some asked if this will be a spouse-free event and to that I say it’s up to you. We don’t have an end time listed but I suspect this thing to go for up to three hours.

September 24th (Saturday night) starting at 6:30 PM we’ll have an event at the Washington Athletic Club https://www.wac.net/ with heavy hors d'oeuvres for the meal. For those who are worried this will be a stuffy suit and tie affair, I’m happy to tell you don’t need to dress up, you just need to dress nice. Based on feedback, we’re expecting a smaller crowd for Saturday and with that, we reserved a room with a 75 person max occupancy. As of today, we have about 45 total guests so if you’re interested in coming on Saturday, please let us know soon!

September 25th (Sunday afternoon) from 1:00-4:00 PM we have a picnic area reserved at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. This will be a bring your own food and beverage event and keep in mind that alcoholic beverages are not allowed in city parks. We’re right next to a playground and the softball fields are also close by. Here’s a link to the map from Seattle City Parks: http://www.seattle.gov/parks/_images/maps/picnics/Lincoln1-2.pdf For those of you familiar with Lincoln Park, this is the picnic area next to the zipline. For those of you whose last trip to Lincoln Park involved the police busting up a kegger in high school, this is the southern most picnic area that’s closest to the ferry dock.

And now for the pricing. As I already said, some of the feedback had to do with the cost of the reunion so we decided to break up the pricing but as much as we’d like to not have you pay anything, we did have some overhead on putting this thing together.

If you’ve already paid for the whole weekend or if you plan on attending Friday and Saturday, the cost remains the same $85.

If you’re only interested in Friday night, we’re asking for a $20 donation per classmate to cover this weekend and the costs associated with putting the event together.

Sunday is a free event but remember to bring your own food and beverages.

We hope these changes will encourage more people to come out and enjoy the weekend as we celebrate the 20 year anniversary of our graduation.

Fellow Kennedy Classmates,

We’re getting close to the reunion, less than 90 days away! I am happy to at last present you with payment options for the reunion.

Between now and August 1st, tickets cost $75 each and covers the costs for the weekend. Starting August 2nd, the price goes up to $85. As a point of comparison, tickets to this year’s prom cost $90 and that was just for one night!

Here’s how you pay:

We have a Paypal account set up under the email address jfkhs91@gmail.  Because Paypal charges a service fee for each transaction, tickets purchased Paypal will cost $79 to cover the service fee.

Checks can be made out to Jennifer Swalwell and mailed to her at 7033 42nd Ave NE Seattle, Wa 98115. There’s no service fee for checks other than buying a stamp!

 Classmates,

we're getting closer to the reunion and will be posting payment information shortly. Please mark your calendars and reserve the weekend of September 23rd-25th.

We're still working on Friday night and Sunday afternoon locations but Saturday night's festivities will take place at the Washington Athletic Club, www.wac.net/.  Here's the link to Google Maps for the address: maps.google.com/maps

We're looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible for the reunion weekend.

Cheers,

Mike
