Jerry D. Yowell, 67, of Joshua, Texas, passed away Friday, September 19, 2008.

Memorial service will be 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church, 601 SW Johnson Ave., Burleson.

Jerry was born April 16, 1941, in Leonard. He served in the U.S. Army for six years, beginning in 1960, with the 25th Infantry Division. He served two tours in Vietnam.

Jerry earned his bachelor?s in 1972 and his master?s in 1992 from Tarleton University. He worked as a science teacher for 25 years at Hughes Middle School in the Burleson ISD. He retired in 1996.

Jerry and Brenda Kay Chandler were married July 20, 1968, in McKinney.

Jerry was a world traveler, a Civil War buff, a beloved husband and father and someone who could find humor in any situation. His granddaughters, Cori and Caisey, were the joys of his life.

His infant brother and his father, J. D., preceded Jerry in death.

Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Kay Yowell; children, Jeff Yowell and wife, Jamie, and Sharon Yowell; granddaughters, Cori Anne Yowell and Caisey Mae Yowell. His mother, Eula Mae Yowell, and brother, Jimmy Yowell, and wife, Diane, of Cisco also survive.

A Graveside service will be at a later date in the Cisco Oakwood Cemetery.
