Josephine James Anderson, 59, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: will be conducted at a later time. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Drawing Room of Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
Memorials: Jody had dedicated her life to the pursuit of goodness, truth and beauty and loved flowers; however, her memory may be honored with a gift to any organization dedicated to education in the arts.
Josephine James Anderson was born Feb. 9, 1946, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to Powhatan W. and Julia Mims James. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and earned her bachelor and master of fine arts degrees from the University of Texas in Austin.
She taught in Burleson since 1974, most recently as head of the arts department at Burleson High School.
She was preceded by her husband, Andrew Furgeson; and her father, Powhatan W. James Jr.
Survivors: Mother, Julia James; sister, Jena Gilliland; brother, Pow James III; nieces, Lori Ann Bleatch, Julia Parsons and Celeste Parsons; several cousins; and close friends, Susan and Frank Lawler and Joyce Martin.

Jodi Anderson was one of my Favorite teachers ,Not only did she teach me art ,she was a friend .I remember once when I was down about life around my birthday ,I went to Art class and lo and behold she had brought the class Cupcakes in honor of my Bday . Pulled me right out of my funk >she REALLY cared .I will always be grateful for that , she tried .The world really suffers when good souls like this move on .S. Byrd
