Matthew, like Wayne Shoffner, was another one of my neighborhood brothers. We grew up playing kickball and basketball in the hood. What a nice guy, all his life. And what an athlete. I saw him at the 10 year reunion and he told me then that he probably wouldn't be at another one. With dignity and pride he told me he was alright with that and he was just glad to see everybody one more time. I learned from him that night that we should try to live our lives having no regrets, doing everything we want to do because tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

I remember Matt he was a laid back and we were in Homeroom together. I remember mostly small talk with Matt. I always liked him. But he was def. before his time as an athlete. I remember so many plays on the football field. Where he would just make phenominal catches in the end zone. I know when I heard of his death it just seems final. And you take for granted that you ll see these people again. But I hate I did nt get to see Matt after graduation. Im sure he went on and got what he could from life. I know I will miss him and regret I never got to shake his hand again. But Im sure we'll meet again. But regardless. I will always have his memory. Even though he may be gone, my memory of him lives on.

I was very sad to hear of Matthew's death. He was an extremely wonderful guy. He was my favorite basketball player. I remember our cheering chat for him... "LEAP MATT LEAP, GET OFF OF YOUR FEET", and boy would he take it to the hoop! I know that he is hooping in heaven. His memories will live always in my heart.

Matt was the man on a basketball court. It was as if he could perform magic with that ball in his hands. He and I spent many days hooping at the Boys Club. Outside of that he was a good person and a great friend. I'll miss Matt saying what's up "Wilson." God must have needed a great point guard for the team in heaven!
