We shared a few classes together through the years and I just remember how nice Steve was. He always had a nice smile and he was a very "down to earth" guy that I will never forget.

Steve was killed in an accident while working under his Corvette in Elon College. His mother discovered him there. He was pronounced dead on the scene. For those of us who were into building cars, this accident served as a wakeup call.
My two sons have grown up working on our family cars, but have been instructed to never put "anything you want to keep for life" under the car while working on it. Steve's accident is the basis of these remarks.
Steve was a personal friend of mine, yes, very down to earth; friendly to everyone. His grandparents lived across the street from me on McPherson Road and I used to see him and cousin Tina there. I do not recall Steve ever having an enemy..
