Harvey P. Green, 56, of Butler died unexpectedly Wednesday at UPMC St. Margaret's in Pittsburgh.
Born Oct. 27, 1954, in Butler, he was a son of Dolores H. (Hesidenz) Green Cornetti and the late Chad J. Green.
He was a 1974 graduate of Butler High School and then he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was a helicopter mechanic for 20 years, stationed at Tustin Naval Base in California.
Following his retirement from the Marines, Mr. Green was a self-employed mechanic and a truck driver for Cysco in California and in Cranberry Township. He most recently drove for Wayne Sell Trucking.
Harvey was a member of the VFW Post 249; the American Legion Post 117, where he was in the Legion Rider's Group; the Butler Moose 64, and the Slovak Club in Lyndora. He enjoyed mechanics and riding motorcycles, especially for charity rides.
Surviving are his son, Cpl. Eric P. Green, U.S.M.C. of San Diego, Calif., stationed at M.C.A.S Miramar; a grandson, Stewart “Stewie” Green of Alabama; his mother, Dolores H. Green Cornetti of Butler; two brothers and their wives, Chad E. and Diane L. Green of Prospect and Larry J. and Debbie Green of Slippery Rock; a sister, Darlene A. (Green) Kiley-Crawford and her husband, Jud, of Moreno Valley, Calif.; and nieces and nephews, Lori (Kiley) Georg, Chad E. Green, Jeremy Green, April Green, Brittany Green, Julie Green, Eddie Green, Ian Georg and Evan Georg; and his former wife, Jean (Olson) Green of Jacksonville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chad J. Green, who died April 2, 1956.

GREEN — Friends of Harvey Green, who died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Panther officiating. Following cremation, burial will take place at St. Wendelin Cemetery, Carbon Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler PA 16001, to help with funeral expenses.
