ALOHA BHS CLASS OF 1964

As the name suggests, the 60th reunion of our class will be the final edition.  We have had ten prior get-togethers and the committee wants this to be the best one ever.

Friday morning from 10:00 AM TO 12:00 PM you can go to the Butler Eagle site at 514 West Wayne St. in the city to view the Jimmy Bashline Circus.  This is a work of artistic genius created in the 50’s.  Bob Brandon and Sam Baron would walk past the garage as Jimmy was creating miniature circus performers, customers and of course the Big Tent.  Bob’s wife Charlotte will be available to tell you how Bob brought this treasure back to Butler County and his important role in making that happen.  Sam came to Butler also and took 300+ pictures once it was set up in Bob’s garage.

Friday night, September 20th we will gather at Coleman Hall, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora,  PA, just off Hansen Ave. at 4:30 PM.  We will feature a Back to the Future menu that evening.  After dinner, we plan to test to see whose cognitive abilities are still intact.

Please know that all we will supply for a beverage is water.  Ice will be available.

Saturday morning, anytime from 10:00 to 11:30 you can have a guided tour of Memory Lane at the high school with murals showcasing past events.  Enter through the cafeteria doors.

Saturday evening, September 21, the doors open at 4:30 PM with dinner to follow.  Shortly after dinner we will be entertained by Spin Cycle, a seven-piece group with a vocalist.  Of course, we will ask them to play some Motown songs along with dance moves like the cha cha slide, etc.  Requests will also be honored.

The price of both evenings of food and entertainment is only $30.00 per person.

AGAIN, only water will be provided.  Ice machine is available.

Coleman Hall only seats 300 people so the first 300 to make reservations will be accommodated.  After that, we will have a waiting list.  We expect a large crowd since it will be our last reunion so make your reservations ASAP.  As the magnet that Bob gave us at the 50th reunion states:  BHS CLASS OF 1964 - WE IMPROVED THE WORLD!

Checks and reservation form can be mailed to Betty Jo McLaren at 2004 Isleworth Lane, Cranberry Twp.,  PA  16066

The Class of ‘64 Reunion Committee

75th Birthday Party for the BHS Class of 1964

Some of us are already 75 and some of us are not quite there yet and will be celebrating our 75th birthday this year. Time for a party!  The committee has heard that other Butler High School classes have done this and, after a vote, decided we also would have a birthday party.

I asked reunion committee members to comment on why we should plan the birthday party.  Here are some of their answers:

  • I always look forward to our class gatherings and catching up with classmates. Also the chance to get acquainted with some I did not know well in the past;
  • It is always so nice to see everyone and we have a great time together;
  • I enjoy the camaraderie of fellow classmates of 1964. I enjoy the relaxation of being in a beautiful park setting. It’s time to commiserate with others of the same age and reminisce;
  • And one very poignant remark: We need to get together before we can’t.  I think we all can identify with that as many of us have lost family and friends over the past few years.

We’re planning a one day event on Sunday, May 1 at the Butler Township Park building. We will have some fun events, a buffet dinner and of course—birthday cake. More information will follow but we wanted you to put it on your schedule now if you would want to attend.

Stay tuned to the BHS website for more information..

The following videos have been added to our site.  They were taken by Sam Baron during our 4-day class reunion adventures.

Well we now have put 55yrs behind us and the reunion committee did a great Job. Our MC for the evening "MARLIN MILLER"LOL did a great and entertaining job. The Thursday night "BREW CREW" at The Butler Brewery was a night of old stories grand children, fine micro beer (SPILLING) I mean drinking, One of the originators of "THE BREW CREW" Jack Cicco could not attend. I give my sincerest apology to Patty Scarnato who moves quicker than lighting, thank god it was not red wine. It was a great weekend had by all, hopefully I will see all you "OLD PEOPLE ' at the 60th. LOL

Gary Poole

While Sam's reunion videos are a good effort, without names, the faces are just random pictures of old people. How about some names, Sam?
