Charles (Spike) "Greenawalt"

Charles (Spike) Greenawalt

Charles "Spike" Greenawalt of Lake Worth, Fla., passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at the age of 76 after a short battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born in Butler, and lived all over the East coast in Connecticut, Virginia and Florida, as well as two years in San Diego, Calif.
Chuck loved life and everyone in it. He was a "people person" and talked to anyone he came across while on one of his many walks. He always made people feel like they'd been friends with him forever.
He was in the computer business his entire life and when he finally retired, he found himself loving the warm weather of Florida with his wife. You could find him on the golf course, riding his Harley, or enjoying walks with his dog, and chatting with the neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eleanor Greenawalt.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Cheryl, and devoted children, Kacey, Colin, Tracy and Brian.
He also leaves behind two grandsons, Allen and Garrett.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mary Jo Chepelsky and Becki Benson; as well as his mother-in-law, Dorothy Russell, and many nieces and nephews.
GREENAWALT - There are no calling hours, and the funeral will be private for Charles "Spike" Greenawalt, who died Monday, Dec. 19, 2022.

Spike is a long time friend both as classmates and near-neighbors.  We spent countless hours playing baseball at the airport when it was Deshon versus the airport guys. We also were buds through our St. Paul's days and through high school.  It seems as if we just exchanged greetings on the class web site.  My condolences to his family.  I'm glad count him as a friend. RIP
