Richard E. McCandless
Richard E. McCandless, 64, of Hilliards died Saturday morning at home.
Born in Butler on Sept. 23, 1946, he was the son of Eugene and Hazel Huff McCandless, who are deceased. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney McCandless.
Dick was a retired plumber's assistant. He worked for 13 years at the Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Co. in Butler until it closed.
Dick served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he received.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Hopper) McCandless, who he married May 14, 1971; a son, Josh McCandless, and his fiancee, Ann Fife, of Butler; a brother, Robert McCandless and his wife, Tammy, of Butler; and a sister, Delores Hockenberry of West Sunbury.
McCandless - Dick McCandless, who died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, requested there be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation services were provided by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
