Thomas A. Niggel
Thomas A. Niggel, 60, of 144 Garfield Ave. died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday at his home after an illness.
Born in Butler, May 3, 1944, he was the son of Albert R. Niggel and the late Dorothy Wagner Niggel.
He retired as a sergeant with the City of Butler Police Department, serving from 1971 to 1998. He also was a former bus driver for Bauman Bus Co. and worked for the Butler Area School District security police.
Mr. Niggel enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Post 117, the Fraternal Order of Police and Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Zamperini Niggel, to whom he was married for 34 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas S. and Christi Niggel of Cranberry Township; two daughters and their spouses, Lori and Nathan Kelley of Bethel Park and Shelly and David McCarthy of Huntersville, N.C.; his father of Butler; two brothers, Ronald S. Niggel of Butler and A. Timothy Niggel of Uniontown, Ohio; and a sister, Joyce M. Queen of Butler. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Michael and Brian Kelley of Bethel Park and Erin and J.T. McCarthy of Huntersville.
NIGGEL - Friends of Thomas A. Niggel, who died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Street, with the Rev. Jack Nanz officiating. Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum.
Members of Women's Council of St. Peter will recite the rosary at 10:40 a.m. Friday at the church.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by VFW Post 249.
