John Podobensky

John Podobensky, 56, of Elderton died Monday at his home.

Born Dec. 16, 1945, in Butler, he was the son of Josephine Pollifrone Podobensky and the late Nick Podobensky.

He had worked at Pullman Standard for 18 years and had been a union officer for the U.S. Steel-Pullman Standard Division. He also was a licensed practical nurse at Harmarville Rehabilitation Center for a year.

Mr. Podobensky attended the Cornerstone Church in Indiana, Pa.

He enjoyed motorcycles and was an award-winning motorcross racer and drag racer. He also was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed fishing, traveling and flea markets.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Elkin Cymbol Podobensky of Elderton; a son, Nick Podobensky of Dayton, Armstrong County; two daughters, Christina Podobensky of Worthington and Sherrie Kabay of Creighton; a stepson, Nicholas S. Cymbol of Cockeysville, Md.; and three stepdaughters, Melinda M. Cymbol of Dayton, Stacy Stolitza of Worthington and Brenda Gates of DuBois; and two grandchildren.

He also is survived by his mother of Butler and a sister, Victoria Weitzel, both of Butler.

PODOBENSKY ? Friends of John Podobensky, who died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Price officiating.

Yes, he's the right one.  His son Nick died in 2008.
