Judith A. Rettig
Judith A. Rettig, 64, of Butler passed away at 7:55 a.m. Saturday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice of central nervous system vasculitis, which caused a massive stroke.
Born April 22, 1946, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Howard Watterson and Jane Frederick Watterson.
She was a 1964 graduate of Butler High School and an employee of American Hardware and Dr. Timothy Brown.
Judy was a member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the 500 Card Club for more than 20 years.
Judy bravely survived her first brain surgery on Sept. 25, 1999, to meet her only granddaughter, Elizabeth, who was born Dec. 15, 1999.
Judy delighted in spending time with Elizabeth, playing games with friends, Pittsburgh Steeler football and traveling with her husband, Jim.
She devoted her life to her family, friends and God.
Surviving are her beloved husband, James, who she married Oct. 16, 1966; her daughter, Dr. Marcia S. Rettig-Seitam and her husband, Michael D. Seitam, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Rettig-Seitam, of Kittanning; two brothers, Timothy Watterson and his wife, Sandra, of Arkansas, and William Watterson and his wife, Becky, of Butler; two sisters, Mary Jane Weisenstein and her husband, Bob, and Marjorie Watterson, all of Butler; her mother in-law, Violet Rettig of Cabot; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Vogt and her husband, Ken, of Butler, and Sandra Corbett and her husband, Robert, of Cecil, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
RETTIG - Friends and family of Judith A. Rettig, who died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alden Towberman of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Gruenwald Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001
