Terry Douglas Stamey "Crusher", age 50, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of Sam and Juanita Stamey of Canton. He was an employee of the Town of Canton and a member of High Street Baptist Church. Terry was a veteran high school wrestling referee for 29 years and almost 20 years for football where he met people from all over western North Carolina. He will be remembered for being very devoted to his family and his love of sports.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Belinda Evans Stamey; two daughters, Amanda Lynn Stamey of Canton and Heather Irene Stamey of the home; a son, Lou Douglas Stamey of the home; two sisters, Joann King of Canton and Debra Jean "DeeDee" Carter and her husband, Ernest, of Sylva; a brother, Eddie Stamey and his wife, Debbie, of Enka; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Crystal, and Chad; a great niece; and two great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the High Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
