Charles Michael "Moose" Mease, age 46, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Buford Barton and June Smith Mease. He was a 1980 graduate of Pisgah High School and an employee of H&M Construction as a pipe fitter and a welder. Michael was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, hunt, and garden. Michael also enjoyed collecting antiques.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step mother, Frances Mease of Canton; two step brothers, Marty Rogers, and his wife, Julia, of Canton and Tim Rogers and his wife, Becky, of Bethel; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Joe Steadman, Reverend W. O. "Bill" Henson, and Reverend Bruce Cayton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 6 Boydston Street in Canton.
