Joseph "Joe" Burton Cox

Joseph Burton Cox, 27, Cassville, died Saturday, October 17, 1992, at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Joe was born August 23, 1965, at Neosho. He was a 1983 graduate of Cassville High School, where he had been an all conference football player. He attended Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Drury College, Springfield, and Missouri Southern State College, Springfield. He was currently employed at FASCO Industries, Cassville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cassville. He was a state certified baseball umpire and had been active in area Little League programs. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jack and Nania Cox, Cassville; his stepfather and mother, Stan and Patricia Valaisis, Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Brian Cox, Cassville and Steve Cox, Joplin; three sisters, Judy Mouser, Cassville, Jacquie Williams and Dana Roller, both of Joplin; maternal grandmother, Gladys Kimbrough Sanders, Neosho; and maternal stepgrandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Armond Mahon, Goodman. Services were at 2 p.m., today (Wednesday) at Williamson Funeral Home, Cassville. Bob Neeley officiated. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, near Stella. Pallbearers will be Stephen Muse, Thomas Villareal, Joe Wells, Keith Linenbrink, Louie Keen and Tim Holden.
