Kathie Knell Smith passed away peacefully, October 25th, surrounded by her family. She had suffered several years from vascular dementia. Kathie lived in New Castle growing up until high school when she lived with a relative in Cedar.  

Kathy married Robert Smith, and they have four boys: Eric, Scott, Jared, and Aaron. Kathie attended Cedar High, class of 1963, and graduated from University of Utah with a degree in nursing, summa cum laude. As a registered nurse, Kathie specialized in providing care to psychiatric patients and worked for years in the Neuropsychiatric field.

Kathie was divorced from Robert in the 1990s, but they remained good friends. Robert, his wife, and Kathie's sons were good to Kathie. She is now reunited with her brother Mike and her parents, Robert Gorden and Vivian Knell.
