IN MEMORY

Christine Lambert

"Kris" Christine Lambert was born May 6, 1945.  She passed away March 2, 1963.

NEWSPAPER 1963:

An automobile drag race ended in death early Saturday for the 17 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Lambert of Cedar City.  Lambert was the city's police chief.

The Utah Highway Patrol said Kris was a passenger in a car driven by Robert DeLaney, about 21, a former Cedar City resident.  DeLaney was at the time apparently a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.

DeLaney and two other passengers were unhurt.  The boys admitted being in a car race when the car went out of control.

Troopers said the car hit the guardrail, then bounced, rolled, and travelled about 1000 feet along the highway before it came to a stop on its top.  The victim, Kris, was underneath the vehicle.

The investigating officer said the other car in the drag race sped from the scene.

At the time of her passing, Kris was survived by her parents, Toni and Ionne Jackson Lambert; older sister, Toni; younger brother, Kirby Jaxon; younger sister, Ember.  All are deceased now except Ember.

Kris loved to go to North Fork on Cedar Mountain.  Idonna and Bert Smith had a dude ranch with cabins.  Kris had her own little cabin and carved "Kris" by the door.  Since that time, the land has passed through several hands, but it is now called Angel Valley.  The current owners, Goodwins, named the property after Kris.  They have new cabins, but have kept Kris's little cabin.
