You were always the most kind, most non-judgmental, & accepting gentle person I ever knew. I always looked forward to seeing your smiling face & soft spoken words.
You were a gentle old soul person then & you departed this world even more mellowed. Your loss is this community's loss in general but more specifically the music community's loss. You will be sorely missed, my dear gentle friend. 💔
Omg. I loved Kai. We danced at our last reunion. He and I sat next to each other in high school. Hall and Haynes. You will be missed. Keep smiling. Jane
I shared classes at TJ junior high school and CHS. He loved his music . I was in the audience at the club's that he played in Charleston. Hell of a bass player, may his music and memory live on .
Kai was kind, intelligent, and so talented. I remember him playing at The Empty Glass and on the stage on the Kanawha River. I enjoyed visiting with him when I was in town. He had the entire history of Charleston's Black community at his tongue's tip, including the misguided redevelopment that wiped out a historic neighborhood. I used to tell him he should write a book! Fare thee well, Kai, and say hello to Curtis for me. Are you starting a band?❤️
