SUSAN NEAL OBITUARY

Susan Williamson Neal
July 30, 1952 - December 19, 2022
Charlotte, North Carolina - Susan Williamson Neal, 70, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at Mercy Atrium Hospital after a brief illness, and in the devoted care of the Mercy Atrium ICU Department doctors and nurses.
Susan was born July 30, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina to R. Douglas Neal, MD, and Zaida Keim Neal.
Following graduation from Myers Park High School, Susan attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she earned a degree in Physical Education. Susan worked with school athletic programs and was a certified Ocean Lifeguard at Nags Head Beach and Wrightsville Beach for many summers. She was an accomplished equestrian and dressage rider and loved horses. When Susan returned to Charlotte, she worked for Cobb Dental as the Office Manager and as a Dental Assistant.
Susan was a member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
The greatest joy in Susan's life was her exotic birds. Susan had a plethora of knowledge on birds and their habitats and care.
She is survived by her brother, R. Douglas Neal, Jr. (Betty) of Columbia, South Carolina, her sister, Linda Neal Kolb (Gordon) of New Orleans and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Wiggs Neal of Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Stephen Wiley Neal.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private interment will be held
at Evergreen Cemetery.

Wow. So sorry to hear about Susan passing. We go way back to Eastover. She was a great athlete, lover of music, and just a nice person. RIP.

Appreciate Conrad sharing this very sad news. Like Jim Laseter, I knew Susan way back at the beginning--I think first grade at Eastover and maybe even kindergarten.  She had a great spirit--so sorry for her passing.
