Donald "Don" Light Ross, Jr
June 5,1952 - August 11, 2010

Athens - Donald Light Ross, Jr. of Athens, GA was winged away from us on August 11, 2010 in Portland, OR where he had been visiting his son's family and meeting his granddaughter for the first time.
Don was born to Don and Mary Ross in Nashville, TN on June 5, 1952. He was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by his sons and their families: Jacob Ross and his wife Sarah and their two children Apollo and Adelina of Astoria, OR; his son Nathan Ross of
Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by his little sister, Mari Ross Wilson of Kennewick, WA.
Don was a veteran of the Viet Nam conflict where he served until the very end of Americanmilitary efforts. He returned to America on the last plane leaving Hanoi in 1973.
His career as an aviator included being a flight instructor of small craft up through left-seat responsibilities on his beloved 757.
Don was a devoted son, a volunteering patriot, protective brother, delightful uncle and loving father who leaves his family with strong memories and capable guidance to help us carry on without him. He also leaves behind an immense array of true friends. His legacy is in showing us all how to live an honest and loving life with no regrets.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday August 21st at the Athens BEN-EPPS airport.
In lieu of flowers make donations to Habitat for Humanity or the charity of your choice.

Don and Mari were neighbors during our Myers Park years.  Don and my brother Louis were buddies.  Louis died in 2015.  I hope Don is taking him for a flight in Heaven.
