Ollie Martin Harris - Class Of 1974

Ollie Martin Harris "Spanky". Our beloved Spanky left us early on Tuesday morning, October 8, 2013, to hunt and fish the fields and streams of heaven. He was born Ollie Martin Harris on March 27, 1956, to the late Luther "Buck" Harris and Barbara "Bobbie" Truslow Harris of Batesville.

He was a veteran of the US Army, stationed mainly in Germany. He was a police officer for the Albemarle County Sheriff's Department (AUX), the Nelson County Sheriff's Department and the Wintergreen Police Department. He was proud to have been a canine officer with Nelson County. He was a Master contractor known for his craftsmanship and precision.

Spanky was predeceased by nephew, Brian Durham, and Samantha Brackett. He is survived by his precious children, Shawn Martin Harris and Wendy of Palmyra, and Hope Nicole Harris Davis and Scott of Nellysford; his soul, his grandchildren, Carrington, Amber, Brooklyn, Dustin, Lane, Hayden, and Kyle. He is also survived by his "Missus," Nena Brackett and her sons, Taylor and Houston; and by his godsons, Theron Martin Harris and Caelen Ollie Harris. Spanky also leaves his siblings, Doug Harris, Gale and Roy Graves, Diane "Dotty" Durham and David, Connie "Netsy" Mawyer and David, and Jamie Harris and Becky; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Mt. Ed Baptist Church, Batesville, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Hope Center.
