Bennie Millard Shifflett, Jr. - Class Of 1974

 

Photo Bennie M. "Big Bennie" Shifflett Jr., 52, of Dyke, died Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Hospice House of Charlottesville.

He was born April 14, 1955, in Charlottesville, to Bennie M. Shifflett and Doris Hall Shifflett.

He was preceded in death by his loving father, Bennie M. Shifflett, whom he loved to do things with.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Shifflett; his mother, Doris H. Shifflett; a sister, Patricia Marshall and her husband, Donnie, of Dyke; and three brothers, Cliff Shifflett and his wife, Lisa, of North Garden, Barry Shifflett and his wife, Tammy, of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Craig Shifflett and his wife, Tessa, of Ruckersville.

In addition he is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tyler and Samantha Marshall, Kristen, Joshua and Hannah Shifflett, Blake, Katelyn and Lauren Shifflett, and Alycia and Heather Shifflett. He is also survived by his precious little dog, Cinnamon.

He had a great love for his family and friends, he never met anyone that he couldn't get along with, he was always there for anyone who needed him, you could always count on him, he was always smiling, enjoying life and a jokester, and he had a great love of cars and loved drag racing.

He will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends.

The family would like to especially thank his friends who worked on his 1969 Camaro, Butch, Ricky, Pete, Blu, Nelson, Tommy and Francis, as well as the doctors and staff on the fifth floor and eighth floor at the University of Virginia Medical Center, and the Hospice House of Charlottesville.

The family is encouraging his friends to bring their muscle and hotrod cars to the funeral, as this will make him proud.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at Monticello Wesleyan Church.

The funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Monticello Wesleyan Church, conducted by the Reverend Jim Moretz. Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
