Bryant Carpenter - Class Of 1974

Bryant Stuart Carpenter, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Martha Jefferson Hospital at the young age of 61. He had been diagnosed with lung cancer on March 1, 2017.

Bryant was a successful and extremely talented specialty carpenter and craftsman by trade, owning Carpenters Unlimited, building and remodeling local homes for decades. He was a volunteer fireman, served on the board and dedicated lifetime member of the Stony Point Fire Department. He was a devout outdoorsman; fishing was his religion and now he's eternally "gone fishin'!" To his family and friends, Bryant was cherished as a beacon of light, pillar of strength, harbor of love and compassionate companion who will be greatly missed but carried closely in our hearts.

Born as a Charlottesville native on October 21, 1955, he was the son of Donald and Ruby Carpenter, both deceased.

Survived by his beloved wife, Laurie and their loving marriage of 31 years; his step-daughter, Sheri Zanein Charlotte N.C.; his step-son, Lee Armentrout; his adored grandson, Trenton Stevens; his brother, Scheffel and wife, Jani; his brother, Peter and wife, Lisa; his brother, Danny; and special friend, Gloria, several nieces, nephews, and uncles, most still residing in Charlottesville.

A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Martha Jefferson Hospital and Hospice of the Piedmont who helped Bryant bravely endure his illness with the necessary medical treatment and support, superior care and compassion and collectively guiding him through a peaceful and gentle passing.

There will be a Celebration of Bryant's life on Saturday, April 22, 2017, hosted at the Stony Point Ruritan Club from 1until 4 p.m.; all welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions please be made to the Charlottesville SPCA or the Virginia Wildlife Center in Weyers Cave, in Bryant's name to honor his immense compassion for nature and all God's creatures.

"Eventually, all the pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment and know that everything happens for a reason."
