Gerald R. Sterman, 61, of Cheyenne died Nov. 23, 2001 in Cheyenne. He was born December 31, 1939 in Cherokee, Iowa.  Mr. Sterman was a sprinkler technician for the City of Cheyenne for 20 years.  He served in the Air Force during Vietnam and retired in 1978, after 20 years of service. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Plumber Union and American Legion. 

On April 2,1986, he married Eleanor "Ellie" Newport in Cheyenne.

Mr. Sterman is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Ellie" Sterman of Cheyenne; sons, Hans "Chris" Sterman of Jefferson City, Mo.; David Sterman of Bales City, Va., and Martin Sherry of Fort Bragg, N.C.; daughters, Shelly Alexander of Linn Mo., and Cherise Atkinson of Cheyenne; a sister, Elaine Ehlers of Alta, Iowa and 13 grandchildren.

His parents, Hans and Katherine Sterman, and a brother Harold Sterman preceded him in death.

Funeral services were at Schrader Chapel with the Reverend Gale Graves officiating.  Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Military honors were conducted by American Legion honor Guard.
