The first time I remember noticing Chick was at "One on One Line Blocking drill" on a cloudy day in 1962. He stood 6'1' and about 210.  He was a civilian and cadets had little contact with civilians during school. (He was an English major). Playing sports allowed Civilians and Cadets to get to know one another. (I am thankful for football because through that interaction Chic became a lifelong friend).

I observed Clark and Chick lining up, (to face each other in a three point stance).  They were waiting for Coach 1st Lt.Jack McCullough to bark out... Hike.  "Crack" and then grunting, (they both were try to drive the other guy back until the whistle blew).  Next up, Larry Geter, "Crack", same results. (You get the idea). After seeing what their practice was all about.  I remember thinking, "Count your blessing Grosch, that you don't have to do that every day in practice".

Chic's "Football Creds".  Outstanding offensive tackle at Ridley Township HS.  At PMC, Chic started at right offensive tackle for 2 years; Was elected Tri Captain (along with Pete Rohana and Bill Yarnall) and in his Senior year made the "All MAC Team". (Middle Atlantic Conference)

Strong Kid. Great college career.

Note. He also threw the Disk and Shot Put for Coach George Hansell's Track team. (along with Timmy Joyce our Speedy Flanker).

Just caught up with your narrtive.  Kormanicki left a couple of days ago.

If we had a few more guys like you on the team, we would have won more games, particularly the Little Army/Navy Game.

Do you recall the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philladelphia?

What is a good time in the evening if I wanted to Facetime?

I remember going to the 50th Reunion Homecoming Game; as I was walking up the hill (going to see the new workout room) who do I see but Mike Kormanicki and you (Chick) walking the other way. We talked for a while. (Mike looked the same, older but in shape).

Mike Kormanicki, (was from Ridley Park). I remember you and he were great friends....Glad to see you guys still "Hang Out". If I remember correctly he lives out  Biily Yarnells' way.

I loved to watch him run the 4 man relay..."Man was he fast". I remember PMC won the "1965 MAC Relay Team Championship" at Lehigh University that year. (Mike Kormanicki, Timmy Joyce, Bob Schlosbon and Frank Evans). They were really good,(Especially on the hand offs)

A Big deal  for PMC and Coach Hansel, but not really known within the Cadet Corps. As I recall Dave Irons also ran with those guys. Why he didn't run that race (1965 Track Meet at Lehigh) I can't recall. (probably because he was winning the 1965 Cross Country Event at the same time. (He was the best "Long Distance Runner in the entire MAC") everyone in the Corps knew that.

PS The Rittenhouse Hotel in Philly, Love to hear those stories, Told by an English Major...Ha.
