In Memory

Henry (Hank) Olkowski

Henry (Hank) Olkowski

Hello all,

My name is Ryan Olkowski and I am the son of Henry Olkowski. With a heavy heart I am writing this email tonight. My dad passed away on Monday morning at his home. Although many of you know he had some health problems, his loss caught all of us off guard as it was totally unexpected. I know one of his favorite past times was forwarding out all of his emails filled with pictures, political stuff, jokes, etc. Some of you on his email list are family and have already heard the news but some of you aren’t and I wanted to share this with you. We are having a small viewing for family and extended family this Saturday, November 17, 2-3pm at the T.M. Ralph Funeral Home located at 7001 NW 4th Street, Plantation, FL 33317. (954) 587-6888. If you were part of his email groups, I know you are part of his extended family and are welcome to attend the viewing. There will also be a Military Service at South Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors for anyone wishing to attend on December 7th —details including the time are forthcoming.

Ryan, excellent tribute to your Dad, he was a Friend and Fraternity brother. Please express my saddness at Hank's passing to your family.

So sorry to hear of the "Owl's" passing. He was such a fun loving generous classmate and friend. I will always have a particularly fond memory of Hank from the years I was the US Army Housing Officer at Ft. Lee, Virginia. Since my office saw most of the in-transit officers coming to and from Vietnam, I looked up one day and there was the "Owl" standing in front of my desk. We exchanged fond memories of our years at PMC and during the conversation I happened to mention that my wife and I had our first son the previous April. A short time later he disappeared only to reappear with a brand new snow suit for the little guy. That's the kind of guy he was and obviously did I fine job in raising his son, Ryan based on the tribute he wrote. All of his classmates are so glad that he came back for the 50th Year reunion and will long have fond memories of our weekend together. It is particularly fitting that the memorial service be held on December 7th as that date has such a significance in our nations history. Now it will have even a more lasting significance. There will only be one "Owl"! Thank you God for sharing him with us! Rest in Peace, brother!
