We left Richmond in 1997 for the beautiful mountains of WV when my husband got a job at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank. We live in Pocahontas County, also the home of Snowshoe Mt Resort, and we're surrounded by national and state forests. The nearest large grocery store and Walmart are 1 hour away, and the closest mall is 2 hours, but the beauty, clean air and sense of community more than make up for the remoteness.

Our two girls, Paige and Blair are unfortunately far away - Paige lives in Ireland with her fiance Gar, and Blair is out on the west coast with her husband Derek. No grandbabies yet...but plenty of grand-dogs.

Chuck and I met when we were both members of the Richmond Concert Band (he plays euphonium, and I still play the flute). This is a second marriage for both of us, and we'll celebrate our 25th anniversary this year. We still try to come to Richmond to hear the band at Dogwood Dell on July 4th, and we miss playing with them terribly.

Allegheny Mountain Radio is a community radio station network that straddles the VA-WV border and serves Pocahontas County in WV, and Bath and Highland counties in VA. In fact, if you've been to Highland county for the Maple festival in March, you've probably heard our station in Monterey (WVLS 89.7FM). Chuck and I started volunteering for the station almost as soon as we moved here, and we still do a 2 hour pre-recorded jazz show every week. Chuck is also the chief engineer for AMR. I started working for AMR in 2007 and became the Program Director last year and have also been serving as the Acting General Manager. I also host Noon Hour magazine, a news and feature program at noon Monday through Friday. Despite the sometimes crazy hours, I love the job. I get to meet some of the most interesting and unique people. Want a taste of truly community oriented radio - check us out on the web at www.alleghenymountainradio.org and listen to the live stream.

If you're in the area, give me a call at the station - 304-799-6004 and I'll be glad to give you the 5 cent tour.
