Comments:

After high school, I attended Wright Jr. college and then North Park. I taught at Wicker Park school, Chicago, and then went on to attend the U. of Hawaii. It was in Honolulu that I met my husband, Nobuhiko (Hiko) Tokita. We moved to NYC where Hiko completed training in radiation oncology at Memorial/Sloan Kettering. In 1978, we relocated to Los Alamos, New Mexico, when Hiko took a research position at the lab there. In 1986, we moved again, this time to Tokyo and have resided there ever since. I worked as a library asst. at the American School in Japan but never got back into teaching. Our 4 children reside in the U.S. Son, Joji and his wife, Yuko, live and work in NYC. Eldest daughter, Hanae, also lives in NYC. Middle daughter, Mari, is working in Honolulu and Emi, the youngest, works at American Univ. in Washington, D.C. For fun and exercise, I love walking and exploring different neighborhoods and new areas in Tokyo or wherever I am at the moment. I enjoy red wine, crocheting, crosswords, reading both fiction and non-fiction. I am also hooked on British detective dramas--Frost, Morse, etc. Living abroad for so long has been a challenge as well as a blessing for me. Thank heavens for dear friends, old and new, as they have been a source of great joy and my lifeline. Whenever I get down I remind myself that, "The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have."
