Brian Geisert 1940 - 2020
Born in Chicago on November 29, 1940, Brian and his brothers spent their childhood in Colonial Village, where Brian attended Fenger High School. As a young adult, a car accident left Brian with limited sight in one eye. He attended Ray-Vogue Art School and went on to work in commercial photography until 1980. He then went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois where he learned COBOL and worked as Systems Analyst until his retirement.
During a snowstorm in 1966 he met Susan Schwerthoffer: they married shortly after and raised 5 children together in Andersonville. As a friend of Bill W., for 48 continuous years, Brian impacted the lives of many especially at The Twelve Step House. Those close to him came to appreciate his dry humor, quick wit, love of reading, classical music, movies, and history. His nearly encyclopedic knowledge of Hollywood stars was impressive, as was his ability to discuss the Civil War in meticulous detail. Brian passed away December 8, 2020 at his Indian Head Park home, surrounded by his family. Brian is survived by Susan, his wife of 54 years; brothers Bruce and Barry (Madrona); children Grant (Ann), Christopher (Alice), Emily Falkowski (Angela), Andrew (Tiffany), & Elisabeth Scallet (Mitchell); honorary daughter Amy; grandchildren William, Caroline, Laura, Katherine, Brian, Francis, Joseph, Eva and Emmett.
