Obituary of Robert Maziarka

Robert “Bob” Joseph Maziarka passed away in peace with his family by his side July 16, 2014 at the age of 65. Bob loved his "framily" with his whole heart and departed to heaven with his buddy Rudy piloting the plane.

At 20 he married the love of his life Sharon Engler shortly before he was drafted into the Army where he served his country in Germany during the Vietnam War. Bob dedicated himself to his family and his 41 year career as a sales manager at Chase Fasteners where he was treated like a son by his boss, the late Joe Chase and made many friends throughout the years. Bob mastered the art of telling a good joke, if you stayed around long enough you could hear it again… and again. He was also a great chef, loved the Cubs and thought this would finally be their year. Bob eagerly looked forward to his yearly fishing trips, a tradition started at the age of 16 by his late brother George Maziarka.

His legacy continues on in his daughters Jeanna (Dan) Jackson of Powers Lake, WI and Kimberly Maziarka of Chicago, IL and his grandsons Dominick, Darrick and his “little fishin’ buddy” Brandon, with whom he shared a special bond. He also leaves behind his loving sister Rose Marie Palgutta of Galena, IL and sister and brother in laws: Leona Maziarka, Diane (Dale) Johnson, Vince (Pam) Engler, Steve (Wanda) Engler, Marilyn and Richard Botts, with whom he shared a great connection and fond nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Wally and Angie Maziarka, sweet sisters Dolores Houser and Ruthie Selva and his friend and brother George.

Bob’s family will receive friends Sunday July 27 from 2:00 -6:00 pm at the Audubon Hall of Independence Grove, 16400 Buckley Rd (Rt. 137, 1/2 mile East of Milwaukee Ave), Libertyville, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 pm with military honors to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bob's name to Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, a charity that was dear to his heart. Information can be found at: www.IFSA.org.
