William Blohm

William R. Blohm, 62, of Carpentersville, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on September 5, 1951 in Oak Park, IL the son of Elmer & Eleanor (Bodenstab) Blohm. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chicago and attended and graduated from St. Paul's Elementary School. He was graduated from Luther North High School, Chicago and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Valparaiso University. He also held a Master's degree in Sacred Music from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio and a Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois. He was employed as a Reference Librarian and Manager of Collection Services at the Gail Borden Library, Elgin. He had also served as an organist and choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rolling Meadows and as an interim musician at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife Carol Hemmerlein Blohm whom he married September 27, 1986 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rolling Meadows; step-sons David (Shannon) Hill and Ryan (Ericka Svenonius) Hill, grandsons Connor and Tyler Hill; brother James (Marisa) Blohm and several nephews, a niece, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son Jeffrey Hill.
