Life took us in all different directions after grammar school, but the time spent in the halls of St. Andrew was bitter sweet.
While coordinating our 45th reunion, your wife reached out to me to tell me that you had passed away on July 3. She wanted be to know that hat you had received the invitation and email messages. Honestly I was speechless, had no idea what I should say or ask, so I offered my condolences on behalf of our class, told her we would keep her and the family in our prayers.
I wished I asked more, I wish I knew more about your journey, 45 years is an along time, I don't remember any significant stories or memories of the time we spent togther. I do remember you had kind face. As we celebrate our reunion, we will also be remembering you and celebrating your life. May you rest in peace my friend.
Dear Ervin, i remember you in grammar school as a very kind and laid back boy. I remember you always flipping back your bangs. I remember your freckles and kind eyes. As for high school memories of you I saw you often at Mailings shoe store where I worked. You visited the store often because you were dating Cindy one of the girls I worked with there. I remember you were such a great boyfriend to her and she always spoke so highly of you. You were a good boy and I’m certain a wonderful husband. Rest In Peace Erv
I am sad to hear Ervin passed away. I think Ervin was the first kid I thought was cool. His hair was slightly long, for grammar school. One of my first recollections of him, is when he told me where I could get the best candy, at a store (long forgot the name) on Lincoln, south of Addison. He couldn't believe I had never been there; I never went that far west, lol (I lived east, over by Lakeview High School). Ervin seemed to know all sorts of stuff that I didn't know. Rest in Peace, Ervin.
