Miss Pyle-English? Don Dick taught math or history? Mr. Gilbert-civics? Pete Wright- Gym? Was there a Miss Hummel? Ruth Ross? Don't expect much from an old fart to remember. I'm trying to remember the Shop Teacher.

I'd appreciate it if someone could provide the teacher's names and the subjects they taught at West Fifth Jr. High. Except for Mr Hupp (sp?) in science, I'm drawing a blank though I can recall some faces. Pictures to go along with the names would also be appreciated.

Answer to the trivia question about one of our classmates in the User Forums (link on the left in the "blackboard column"): I was behind in my reading and have been trying to catch up since I retired. The answer was in the Inspire Awards in the January/February 2009 (yes, 2009) issue of AARP, the Magazine. I am pasting the sentence containing the answer below:

[Glenn] Close brings her own two rescued pups, Jacob Charles (Jake) and William Hamilton (Bill) , and an occasional foster dog, almost everywhere she goes, including to the set of the critically acclaimed Damages, where, she says, she is delighting in “proving that a mature woman can be sexy and complex and carry a show.”

Nope, it is not Francis Geyer. I have posted the answer in the announcements on the Home Page. Click on Home Page in the blackboard-looking column to the left. It is the last choice in the first section from the top, right above MEMBER FUNCTIONS. Then you will find the answer in the middle section of the Home Page in big letters. Thanks for guessing. No, it is not Sandy Lenzi. I think it is pretty unusual for an animal to have both a first and last name, but this animal was given both names. I really can't say that the actress actually knows our classmate, but she gave her pet the first and last names of one of our classmates. Thanks for participating. Guess again if you want.

[Note: The following was not written by me. It was written by classmate Dick Rutherford.]

‘Twas the morning after Turkey Day when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

When on the next block there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew without mind, tore open the curtains and threw up the blind.

And what to my sleepy two eyes should there flash, but a large white truck seeking this week's trash.

I jumped for my clothes, to the dog gave a whistle, and flew to the kitchen like a military missile.

I grabbed all the trash bags, the newspapers too, and stuffed their containers to the tops – yes, it's true.

Away to the curb I flew like a flash, and sighed with relief as I put out the trash.

Then along came the truck all shiny and white, with a little fat driver who'd been up half the night.

He pulled to my curb and captured my can, with his hydraulic arm he dumped with a slam.

And then with a nod he put my can back, and nodded at me as he leaned on the gas.

And I heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight, "Don't forget next week... put your trash out at night!"

In Kent, Ohio, there is a Christian organization that reaches out to international students in many ways. We are a part of that group. This past Sunday, November 22, the organization had a Thanksgiving dinner for over 300 international students at a very large church in Hudson, Ohio. It was such a nice way to tell the students about the history of our American holiday and show them friendship and God's love. That was the biggest Thanksgiving dinner I had ever attended!! Here is a place where you can share one of your favorite Thanksgiving stories. The forum will be removed sometime shortly after Thanksgiving. In the meantime, your classmates will enjoy reading what you want to share with them about a past Thanksgiving, perhaps when we were in school together - or what you are planning for this year.
