Boyd Fontaine

Boyd Fontaine, age 63, of Whitehall, OH, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Kobacker House.  He was born in Chardon, OH and was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1959. 

Boyd was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a manager for Ameritech in 1997 after over 29 yrs. of service. He was an avid golf enthusiast. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 15 years, Joyce I. (Gutridge) Fontaine, who was taken from him in an accident in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents Herman and Elaine (Frank) Fontaine. 

Boyd is survived by three sisters, Elaine McIntyre and her husband, Gail of Cibolo, TX, Yvonne Weber and her husband, Paul of Papillion, NE and Suzanne Norris and her husband, James of Grove City, OH; by one brother, Charles Fontaine and his wife, Linda of Bryan, TX; by his special friend, Erma Lucas of Columbus, OH; by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and by many, many friends. Boyd is also survived by his faithful companion of 14 years, his Maltese, Paddi. 

Funeral service was held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, where the family received friends 5-8 p.m. Friday. Pastor Larry Kudart, officiated. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to Good Hope Lutheran Church, Glenford, OH 43739 or to the charity of the donor's choice, in Boyd's memory. 

A special thank you goes from Boyd's family to the staff of Kobacker House and Home Reach Hospice for the care given Boyd in his last days, with a special thank you to his favorite nurse, Rita Dunphy.

     Boyd Fontaine died of colon cancer on Tuesday May 10, 2005.  His funeral will be at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 East Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio. Visiting hours will be Friday evening 5:00-8:00 PM.  The funeral will be Saturday morning May 14 at 9:30 AM with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 5600 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio.  Please celebrate Boyd’s life in your heart.
