    Rev. Gail J. Shewalter, 66, of Chillicothe passed from this life Thursday May 31, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born December 19, 1940 in Chillicothe, the son of Jacob O. and Viola (Seymour) Shewalter.  On November 14, 1962 he married Caroline E. "Ikey" Sommers, and they shared 44 years together.

    He attended the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 4, 2007 with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.  Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of the family at the Homeland Credit Union.

    Surviving is his wife of Chillicothe, daughters Shonna Bilbe, South Carolina; Sherrie Borror, New Lexington, Ohio; Margie (John) Hashman, Corning, Ohio; and Samantha Shewalter, Chillicothe; sons Gail J. "bub" (Keisha) Shewalter II, South Carolina; and Jeremy (Cassie) Shewalter, Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, 5 sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.  His parents preceded him in death.

    Rwv. Shewalter was an ordained minister and served churches in Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina and Kentucky for 44  years, retiring from his ministry in 2003.
