Comments:

I graduated from OSU and married David Sigler in l962 and began teaching that year. I rermember earning $4,200 my first year of teaching and we paid around $79.00 a month for our apartment. In l963, we moved to Louisville, KY where David attended Southern Seminary. We had two of our children while there and he graduated in l966. We moved back to Ohio where David began his ministry and we had another daughter. I took some time off teaching when I had the children. We then moved to W.Va and eventually to Canada where he continued serving in the church. In l980, we moved back to Ohio and I began teaching again. In 1990, David went to be with our Lord and Savior. Family, friends and our church helped me through these very difficult years without my beloved mate. Seven years later I married Gail Carpenter and we have been married almost 12 years. I spend most of my time now being with Gail, my children, my 9 grandchildren, my friends and my church family. My goal is to carry out one activity a day which will make life better for someone else. It can be a very small act, like just being nice to someone who is having a bad day. I also try to work out at the gym around 3-4 times a week, cook and take care of our home. We also have a precious little dog, "Noel" who lights up our lives.

School Story:

I started in first grade at Massieville and loved my teachers, classmates and the school in general. We had a great school and recess held a lot of wonderful fun memories like double dutch, marbles, ball against the wall, nibbley peg, dodgeball and of course the swings, merry-go-around, slippery slides etc. I moved to Worthington in 5th grade and had a great teacher, Mrs. Hand, who read us a Bible story every day. Those stories still remain in my mind even to this day. I then went to Western and CHS where Charlotte Montgomery became my best friend throughout high school. Her sister, Samora, was my sister's best friend so we spent a lot of time together. I started dated my future husband, David Sigler, when I was a junior
Several school stories stand out in my memory but one in particular. I remember being very, very shy in high school and for some strange reason, I signed up for dramatics. I believe Mr. Duncan was the teacher. The first day I was in class, he glanced through the class list and randomly selected someone's name to come up front and play the part of a person who was very surprised when someone walked in the room. As I was trying to hide behind the person in front of me, I hear the name "Janice Kidnocker". I could not believe he called my name but then with the name "Kidnocker", why wouldn't it stand out! Anyway, I was suppose to say some words and show an expression on my face to indicate that I was very startled when I saw the person. Needless to say, I could not look surprised or say the words he told me to say. I could only look very very scared and intimidated. The words I uttered had no expression at all. I was so afraid and embarrassed to be in front of the class and having to act! As soon as I managed to get out the door, I went straight to the office and dropped Dramatics! That was a terrifying experience back then; I am not quite as shy 50 years later. I guess life's experiences enables us to be a little more outgoing!
