Sandra L. Brown, “Sandy” (Lenzi) from Chillicothe, OH passed from this life to heaven on April 5, 2015 at the age of 73. She died in her home at 7:33 pm surrounded by her loving family after a 3-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. Sandy faced this difficult illness with courage and grace until the very end and was an example to many. Her greatest legacy is that she would pass on a genuine faith in her Savior Jesus Christ to her family and friends who knew her.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard Brown, son Chris Brown, daughter Amy (Wayne) Beam, and 9 grandchildren: Zachary (Rebecca) Brown, Elizabeth (Eric) Burke, Hannah and Isaiah Brown, Lenzi, Alex, Wes, Ivy and Isaac Beam and daughter-in-law Tina Pfeifer.

Also surviving is sister Marcia (Vince) Corrado of Dayton, OH, brother Jon Lenzi of Fort Pierce, FL, step-sister Kyla Spencer of Benton, KY and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family members. Sandy is preceded in death by parents Lincoln and Marjorie Lenzi, stepmother Elsie “Kelly” Lenzi and infant son Jeremy.

Sandy was born on November 26, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Lincoln and Marjorie (Smith) Lenzi. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1959 and attended Ohio University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education. She also received her Masters of Education from Mount St. Joseph in later years. Sandy was a teacher for 29 years for Chillicothe City Schools and was beloved by many students. She was actively involved as a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served in many roles over the years. Her favorites included teaching young married couples, serving as an Awana Director, Nursery Director and Sunday School Superintendent.

Sandy’s favorite activities through the years included sewing, reading (always preferably at the beach), planting flowers and singing. Most favorite of activities included attending any events of her grandchildren and gathering with family as often as possible. Sandy was loved by many who will always remember her kindness, warm smile, love for others and devotion to her faith and relationship with Jesus her Savior.

Family wishes to give special thanks to all those who have loved, prayed and supported Sandy and Richard during this difficult time as well as Drs. John Gabis and Britten Young and especially to all the Adena Medical Center staff in radiation, chemo therapy, lab, cancer center and two of the best doctors to be found anywhere - Ralph Roach and Jeffery Vandeusen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Saturday April 11 at 10am. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 5pm to 8pm at the church as well. Pastors Andrew Shearer and Steve Gage will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sandy’s life. In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial gifts to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 221 E. Main Street, Adena Cancer Center, 4439 State Route 159 Unit 260 and Adena Hospice Care, 2077 Western Avenue all in Chillicothe, OH 45601.
