Frank E. Terry

Frank E. Terry

 (03/21/41 – 11/15/21)

Frank Eugene Terry, Sr. was born in Chillicothe, Ohio to Frank Edward Terry, Jr. and Elizabeth Wright.  He was the fifth of nine children living in Ohio with two living in Colorado.  He was affectionately called “L’il Frank” or “Unc” by family and friends.  He attended school in both Ohio and Colorado.

After graduating from Chillicothe High School he enlisted in the Army and was trained as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.  After being transferred to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina he was also a soldier in the 82nd Airborne Cavalry. There he became an expert marksman and received extensive training as a Medical Specialist.  Following his training he was given orders of deployment to Vietnam where he served two back-to-back terms.  After being discharged Frank returned to his family in Ohio.

Searching for a sense of purpose and direction Frank decided to attend college to pursue a degree in engineering.  By this time he had met Corlene, who strongly urged him to set and complete his educational goals.  He took her seriously . . . and worked several jobs while attending college as a full-time student.  Corlene and Frank were married October 10, 1970 – once he had graduated from college.

Immediately following graduation he was hired by Commonwealth Engineering in Jackson, Michigan.  After a few years with the realization of more opportunities at another company, he joined Bechtel Engineering in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Stearns Rogers Engineering in Denver hired Frank and moved the Terry household to Colorado.  Frank designed power plants in Alaska, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Utah, and Texas.  He was particularly proud of many projects while working for Lockheed Martin, especially the Atlas V rocket in use today.

Frank and Corlene have two sons: Frank, Jr. and Bryan.  His love for sports was satisfied as he watched his sons develop athletic skills.  For years he coached and travelled with Frank Jr.’s soccer team as well as being a strong supporter for Bryan and the other athletes in Special Olympics, SOCO.

Although Frank’s walk of faith was not easy during his life, he grew to experience God’s love to be real.  “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise . . . He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”  (2 Peter 3:9)  Just as He promised, the Lord called Frank’s name as he entered into His presence on Monday, November 15, 2021.

He will always be remembered by his best friend, confidante, and wife Corlene Terry; his sons Frank Jr. and Bryan; siblings Richard (Dickey) -Bernita- Wright, Crystal Wright-Goolsby of Columbus, Ohio; John (Jack) Terry of Las Vegas, Nevada; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Edward Terry, Jr. and Elizabeth Wright; sisters Mary Jo Smith, Rose Patterson, Janice (Jane) and Sandra (Jeanne) Terry; brothers Reginald (Red) Wright, Carl (Charlie) Terry, Sr., and Royal Wright.
