James W. Beard, Jr. of Houston, Texas passed away on March 16, 2020 at the age of 78.  He was born on September 16, 1941 to James W. Beard, Sr. and Dorothy Cole Beard.  He was a retired law professor at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where he joined the faculty in 1974.

     James was also a deacon at his church and served his community in many ways.  He was a 1959 graduate of Chillicothe High School and was a brother of Patricia Beard Smith and the husband of Gail Beard.
