Naomi R. Schmitt, age 72, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Reid Hospital. She was born July 31, 1941, in New Lexington, Ohio to John W. Sr. and Shirley Fortner, who preceded her in death.

Naomi worked in data entry for the state of Ohio and had lived in Richmond, Indiana since 2007. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Roger C. Schmitt, to whom she was married on October 26, 1969; her daughter, Rebecca (Andrew) Glunt of Williamsburg, Indiana; her son, John (Jennifer Gehrich) Schmitt of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren; her sisters: Rebecca Fortner Poling and Rachel Brown; her brother, John Fortner Jr.; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.

Visitation for Naomi R. Schmitt was held Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Doan & Mills Funeral Home in Richmond. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Pastor Mark K. Irwin officiating.
