Joan Porter (Rippeth)

Joan D. Rippeth, 74, of Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at her home.

She was born on July 6, 1941 in Chillicothe, to the late Ralph D. and Alpha (Doughty) Porter.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Tatman, and Traci Tatman, both of Chillicothe; two stepchildren, Eric (Robin) Rippeth, and Amy Stafford, both of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Chelsie (Shane) Hedrick, of Kingston, Lillianna Stafford, Ezra Rippeth, and Halle Rippeth, all of Chillicothe; one great-granddaughter, Aubrey June Hedrick, of Chillicothe; two brothers, John (Lori Theobald) Porter, of Chillicothe, and Jim (Cathy) Porter, of Jackson; one sister, Nancy Hicks, of South Salem; and she was aunt Joanie to several nieces and nephews.

Joanie retired from Chillicothe City Schools in 2003 after working as an educational aide for many years. She enjoyed numerous hobbies including water skiing in her younger years, tending to her plants, and making arts and crafts, especially ceramic pieces. She was once an active member of a bowling team at Shawnee Lanes Bowling Alley and won many awards for her skills. She loved going to the beach at Fort Myers and spending the day socializing with her friends. She also loved to dance, taking aerobics classes, and teaching a water aerobics class at her retirement center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may on Sunday from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
