In Memory

Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Scott

(01/20/41 - 01/02/18)

Following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Elizabeth Ann Scott, 76, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Tuesday January 2, 2018.  She was surrounded in her home by her loving and very devoted and dedicated family.

Liz was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on January 20, 1941 to Walter and Helen Thomas Scott.  She was baptized at an early age in Quinn Chapel AME Church, Chillicothe.  Later when she moved her family to Columbus, she became a dedicated member of the First Church of God, where she was very active.

Following high school graduation, Liz attended both cosmetology and nursing schools, then worked with over 25 years of service for Discover Card Service before retiring in 2006.

Liz loved the Lord with all her heart.  She was truly a giver and expected nothing in return.  She loved to cook for her church, family and friends.

She loved life and enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, and spending time with her five children: Tarey L. (Dan Cockerham) Scott-Harris, Garey L. Scott, Kay Dee Scott-Simon, Walter “Duke” Scott and Maria “Duchess” Scott-Rice.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sylvia M. Bayless.  She leaves to cherish her memory her children, 12 grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; as well as friends including Janice Hall (Robert) Scott.

Viewing, in loving memory, of Liz is scheduled for 4 to 5 pm on Sunday January 7, 2018 with the Celebration of Her Life beginning at 6:00 pm at 1st Church of God - 3480 Refugee Road, Columbus, Ohio 43232.
