   Patty Ann Wolford Thomas, 82, of Portsmouth, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Hill View Health Care surrounded by her family. She was born on April 14, 1941, in Mansfield, the daughter of the late Charles William and Margaret Lucille Hoover Wolford.

   Patty retired after 25 years with the Portsmouth City Health Department where she served as the Women’s Clinic receptionist and billing clerk. She was a longtime member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Portsmouth, liked to play bridge, go out to eat with friends and she enjoyed many summer vacations with her family in Myrtle Beach. She was loved by all and was known to put others above herself, especially her beloved family. Patty was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, and she received a Bachelor of Education from Ohio University in 1964. 

   On August 15, 1964, Patty married John Edgar Thomas in Chillicothe, and the couple was married for 47 years at the time of his death on September 7, 2011.

   Surviving are her two sons, Jeffrey E. (Christine) Thomas of Cincinnati and James B. (Susan) Thomas of O’Fallon, IL; her brother, Tom (Debbie) Wolford of Lancaster; and six grandchildren, Jacob (Ashlyn), Ellen, Bradley, Lauren and Alexis Thomas.

   Private services were held under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Thomas Charles officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
