         Stephen Karl Beeler, 73, passed to his eternal home on May 15, 2017 after a courageous battle with a sudden illness. His devotion to family, friends, and church supported him through his struggle. The love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, ultimately gave him peace, and today he rests in the arms of his Heavenly Father.

 

         He was born to the late Phillip and Blanche Beeler on August 4, 1943, in Chillicothe, OH. He was married to, and survived by, his best friend and wife Virginia Nunley Seymour on May 14, 2014, in Chillicothe, OH.

     Steve was blessed with a large and loving family. Surviving are children, Karla (Mark) DePugh, Samuel (Gail) Beeler, and Stephanie (Eric) Vogelsong; 8 grandchildren, Lacie (Keith) Yates, Corey (Jessica) Williams, Baylee DePugh, Stephen Clayton, Taylor and Logan Beeler, Brendan and Victoria Vogelsong; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 stepchildren, Gerold (Janet) Colburn, Gary (Pam) Colburn; grandchildren, Angela (Tracy) Redding, Tim (Danielle) Colburn and Selena Colburn; 2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Norman (Barbara) Beeler; sister-in-law, Charlotte Beeler; and a brother-in-law, Hal Adcock. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Beeler and Phillip Neil Beeler; sisters, Marleah Jean Wells, Shirley Heilman, Phyllis VanHooser, and Donna Adcock; and brothers-in-law, Richard Wells and Gary VanHooser; nieces, Paula Jean Merriman, Susan Bower, and nephew, Scott Beeler.

     Steve’s father Phillip was a well known minister in the Chillicothe area, which allowed

young Steve to be immersed in the Christian Community for the entirety of his life. As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior allowing God to direct his life and dreams.

     Steve was a 1962 graduate of Chillicothe High School. After graduation, he was employed by the Mead Paper Corporation/Chilpaco Division, where he worked until his retirement in 1993. He had been a member of U.P.I.U. Local 998. Steve was also an “Ordained Minister” who had previously served within the Scioto Valley Christian Conference and various churches within the area. He was most recently, an active member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union located in Chillicothe, OH.

     Steve was a devoted Son, Brother, Father, Husband, and Grandfather. He was a lifelong outdoorsman and avid “coon hunter”. He was a soft spoken gentleman who loved life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Steve was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to football and track/field. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and traveled most everywhere to watch them compete. Steve will be greatly missed by family and friends.

     Steve has finished the race. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished (my) course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

          Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. After the burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, a reception will be held at the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union Fellowship Center for family and close friends.
