Richard Allen Jones

December 8, 1942 - August 23, 2013

Richard A. Jones, beloved husband, father, Grandfather, and friend departed this world on August 23, 2013 to go home to be with the Father. Richard was a submitted Christian and follower of Jesus Christ our Lord.

He was a retiree of the Mead Corporation with 28 years of service, where he worked in the cutters department.

He has been married to Shirley A. (Graves) Jones for the last forty-seven years; she has been the love of his life and his partner and soul mate through the tough times of his illness.

He has three adult children, Adam and Tara Jones Laurelville, OH, Jennifer and Tracey Unger, Chillicothe OH, Brad and Vicky Jones Laurelville, OH. Richard has been blessed with eight wonderful grandchildren, Devin Unger, Katie Unger, Hanna Unger, Ashley Jones, Dalton Jones, Ethan Jones, Shelby Cottrill, and Jacob Cottrill. He was so very proud of the grandchildren, they excelled in a variety of sports, ranging from football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, track, and softball, as well as excelling in the classroom.

Richard truly loved the Lord and proudly attended the Laurelville church of God. Another passion was restoring antique cars and going to car shows. He was a member of the Southern Ohio Ford and Street Rod Association. He was also a proud board member at the Henderson sales gossip group, where he enjoyed getting the gang going and pulling pranks.

He will be extremely missed by all of his family and friends, but we know that he is walking with the Lord.

A departing decree from his loving wife Shirley…“Farewell my love, I will always love you and will see you again.”

Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday August 26, 2013 at Wellman Funeral Home, Laurelville. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 am-12 pm Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurelville Church of God.
