Dixie L Landrum (Polen)

Dixie Lee Polen, of Chillicothe, died 9:40 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in the Ware Funeral Home (773-2134) with Pastor Dave Leckrone and Fr. David Schilder officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Dixie was born September 30, 1944, in Chillicothe, to the late Edgar and Dorothy Pfeifer Landrum. On October 5, 1963, she married John A. Polen, who survives, of Chillicothe.
Also surviving are sons, Victor A. (Beth A.) Polen, of Vaucresson, France and Joseph M. (Denise A.) Polen, of Columbus; grandchildren, Brittany A., Jaclyn D., Summer L., Joey M., Zachary L. Polen, Kaitlyn S. and Jessica N. Blaies; a brother, Charles "Eddie" (Jane) Landrum, of Frankfort, KY; mother-in-law, Helen Polen, and sisters-in-law, June Landrum and Janice Harper, all of Chillicothe; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Landrum and an infant sister, Frances A. Landrum.
Dixie retired as a Risk Manager from the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center January 3, 1997.
Dixie was a devoted wife that always was there for her husband and continued to be his idol her entire life.
She was a thoughtful and caring person, a devoted mother and grandmother, who always put her self behind the needs of others, especially her children. She was also a loving mother-in-law that looked upon her daughters-in-law as her own.
Dixie's career at the Veterans Administration was for a span of over 30 years. Throughout her career she always prioritized the needs of the patients and their families.
