I had been in touch with Bert since high school. He spent most of the time after we graduated teaching in a small college in Maine called University of Farmington. I visited with him and his family during many summers. He helped thousands of students not just in class, but with their other life problems as well. I could write a book on all the things he did to help his students, faculty, and anyone he met who needed some type of help. He also had a soft spot for animals and his home was always full of dogs and other animals he rescued from all over the country. He will be missed by his family, friends, students, facutly, and all the countless people who were fortunate enough to have known him!
