So sorry to hear of Phil's passing.  I used to see a lot of Phil and Carol when Elana went to Mercy Montessori.  They were involved, loving parents, and a very close couple.

May the love of their family and friends comfort Carol and their children/grandchildren.

Phil Friedman was a fine man.  I am lucky to have known him.

He told me he was honored to have served in Vietnam.

He said of his passing, better him then a young enlisted man with a family.

I hope he has found peace.

How many of us served in Vietnam? Phil Friedman was a True Patriot saying .... better him serving in Vietnam than a young enlisted man with a family.  Phil made Vietnam Veterans as one of his memorial contributions..

Although I didn't go to Vietnam - I was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Infantry from ROTC after graduating from UC.  As a platoon leader, I have thought many times what it would had been like fighting in Vietnam.  I give Phil much credit for serving there.  It sounds like it left a profound impression on him.

I served my time there - when look on-line at pictures of where I was during my tour, it's quite a shock - one place (Nha Trang) is now a resort!
