Hello Everyone!

I hope you have all survived the Covid days and we all hope they are forever behind us!  This has been a challenging year for all of us!  That being said, and this being our 50th year after graduation, we are trying to make the 50th reunion happen!  However, most venues need a good amount of people who plan on attending before they will allow us to book.  We NEED YOUR HELP!  If we are going to pull this off, we need you to attend!  At this time, plans are just in the beginning process but we are hopeful you are with us to get it off the ground.  We are thinking September or October for the approximate time.  I will be sending out invitations with the exact date before too long.

Would you be kind enough to reply to this notice just to give us an idea of people interested, from those who are signed up  on the site.  Only 39% of us are signed up here but we certainly would love more to register!

We look forward to this reunion but it is going to be a challenge.  However, we are dedicated to making it happen if you are dedicated to helping us!

Together, WE CAN DO THIS!!

I will be looking for your responses in the near future!

Class of 1971 Committee

Hello Everyone!

I am waaayyy past due to give some updates but I hope everyone has avoided Covid and you are all doing well!

I need to let you all know a few things, first of all, we have decided, due to Covid, that it is necessary this year to cancel our annual picnic.  We all agree that it is just not worth the risk of someone getting sick.  However, the good new is that we will be planning of a fun 50th reunion....YES 50TH.....can you believe it?!!!  More info on that will be forthcoming once plans are underway.  Please try to plan on being there,  we would love to have a GREAT turnout for the "BIG ONE".  I will let you know the date as soon as it is set, along with place and time so you can mark your calendars.

On another note, I am so sorry to let you know that we have lost three more classmates this year.

1) Diane Closser Martin left us on April 3, 2020 after a 3 1/2 year battle with ALS.

2) Jim (Duke) Cole left us on April 23, 2020, after an ongoing battle with cancer.  Duke joined us on our last picnic last year and enjoyed every moment.  He was an inspiration to all of us and was so happy to see all who attended.

3)  Stan Krenselak left us on May 19, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer.

THIS, my friends, is why we are trying so hard to get our class back together, we need to support each other as often as we can and care for each other, and enjoy time together.  Too many of our classmates are gone already and we need to get together as often as we can to enjoy precious time.  These three classmates will be very missed but never forgotten.  We will keep them in our memories and remember the times we did get to spend with them.  Thankfully, Diane Martin (Closser) was able to attend our last reunion in 2016.

For now, this is all I have, but will send an announcement when we get more plans in the working.  Again, please try to attend.  Yes, we have all changed, and our lives have taken different directions, but lets plan on a great reunion in 2021!

Take care and stay safe!

Hello Everyone!

Well, our annual picnic for this year has come and gone with great reunions and much fun!  Thank you to each one of you who had a part!  This includes those of you who attended as well, we can't have success if you don't join us!  Please mark your calendars for the first Saturday of next year.  I will be sending out a reminder here on our site to you.  If you have an idea you would like to see at the picnic, please contact us and we will try our best to get it done.  If you would like to be a part of the committee, let us know as well.  There are never too many workers!  We WILL still be having our 50th class reunion in 2021 also.  It's going to be a GREAT one!  Please help us by notifying one or two people who you would like to see attend next years picnic and encourage them to join us at both events. I have pictures posted under Gallery Creator of Saturday's events.

The idea of the picnics are to create or recreate bonds.  Many have been made and we need that positive event in our lives.  We have all changed and become adults who care about eachother and we want that to grow into the entire class!  Also, please have anyone you know would like to join this site who haven't yet, go to classcreator.com McGuffey class of 1971 and join by filling out information (no one will see but me).  I will "ok" you to join and you will get emails and reminders of all events, class info, etc.  Thanks so much!

I'll be in touch again.  Take care!

Kay~

Hello Friends!
I hope you are all doing well!  Unfortunately, I again have sad news to share with you.  Our classmate, Richard Clutter, passed away from esophageal cancer on Tuesday, March 5th.  His calling hours are in Claysville from 2-4 and 6-8 on Sunday, March 10th and burial on Monday if anyone locally would like to visit his family at the funeral home to give condolences. He was married to the former Debbie Sayer, who some of us knew.
Take care and please keep in touch!

Hello Friends!

I again have to send sad news to you.  Our classmate, Jeff Burt, passed away this afternoon, October 9, 2018 after suffering from cancer.  Please keep his children and brothers, including our own classmate, Mark Burt, in your prayers, their hearts are breaking. Donna Martin will be sending flowers to the funeral home to be from the McGuffey Class of 71'.

Your friend,

Kay Clark~

It is with a broken heart that I am telling you we lost another classmate.  Debi (Chilcote) Tongel passed away on Monday evening, February 26, 2018.  She fought a strong and courageous battle with cancer for about four years. I was privileged to be able to stay in touch with her through the last few years and I know with certainity that Debi is in heaven and free from all her pain and sickness.  This will help me through my personal grieving process and I hope it will help you also.  Please pray for her two children, Bre and Ricky and husband Rick during the weeks and months ahead.

We will miss you Debi !!

Kay Clark~

To the reunion committee

THANK YOU for doing such a wonderful job with the recent class picnic. We had a wonderful time and it was so good to see those who attended. The food was great and certainly plentiful. The games were a lot of fun and NO Jon Paul's team did NOT cheat!!!!

It was a shame that so few of our classmates decided not to come. Hey people!! Get out next year and have some fun with your old classmates!!! As we all know every well, we won't be around forever.

To the committee, again "THANK YOU"

Letta

Hello All!

Just to let you know, Cheryll (McCullough) Post has done an excellent job searching and finding all but 11 of our classmates!  Please check the "missing classmates" page and if you see anyone there that you know their address or even the state they live in, let us know ASAP.  Our invitations are going out in about two weeks and we do not want to miss anyone!  This is going to be an awesome reunion with some great plans!  Again, mark your calendars for October 22nd and look for your invitation about the middle of September.

We can't wait to see you all there!

Kay Clark~

THE PICNIC IS OVER!

If you weren't there, we missed you and you missed a great time!  We had classmates from out of state, and out of town so we appreciate the sacrifice you made to join us!  We had lots of fun and many laughs!  I think John Paul Jackson's team cheated while we were playing a game, but we had fun anyway!   We had soooo much good food of all sorts so thank you all for bringing something!

Cheryl McCullough Post did a surperb job of organizing and putting out the food, keeping it warm - or cold.  Along with Cheryl, Sally Mounts, Donna Martin, Ramona Clark, Phil Conklin, Mike McGuire and Mark Burt all worked hard trying to make sure every last classmate was notified.  They also organized, donated, set up and tore down and enjoyed every minute.  Kuddos to each one of you!  GREAT JOB!

I also want to recognize those who gave monetary donations to go toward the next picnic (next year).  You were VERY generous!!  Obviously, we have interest for a "next picnic" so we will be working on plans.  If any of you have any ideas that you would like to share, please let any of us know, this is YOUR picnic and your ideas are just as important as ours!  It takes everyone to have a successful event.

I haved some pictures posted so please take time to check them out.

Again, thank you all for coming and we will let you know the date of the next one as soon as we can.  For those who couldn't attend, please try to join us next year, we promise you will have a great time!

Until next time, be safe!

Kay Clark~
